CH Northwind’s Some Kind of Wonderful – “Wonder”
DOB 9-23-2022 Pedigree (courtesy of the whippet archives)
The dam’s name is Wonder and the sire’s kennel name is Wunder, so it seemed appropriate to name these little ones after the Seven Wonders of the World. Except there’s only five…..
The classic Seven Wonders were:
- Great Pyramid of Giza, in El Giza, Egypt, the earliest of the wonders to be completed, as well as the only one that still exists in the present day.
- Colossus of Rhodes, in the harbor of the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island of the same name.
- Hanging Gardens of Babylon, in Babylon, near present-day Hillah, Babil province, Iraq; or Nineveh, Mosul, Nineveh Governorate, Iraq.
- Lighthouse of Alexandria, in Alexandria, Egypt.
- Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, in Halicarnassus, a city of the Achaemenid Empire in present-day Turkey.
- Statue of Zeus at Olympia, in Olympia, Greece.
- Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, in the city of Ephesus, near present-day Selçuk, Turkey.
Here are the two “wonder” girls:
“Babylon” is a solid brindle with just a tiny dot of white on the back of her neck. 14.9 ounces
“Artemis” is a very dark solid fawn with a lovely blaze that spills over her head onto her neck. 14.5 ounces.
Three wonder boys:
“Zeus” is a fawn brindle with an attractive wide blaze and a small spot on his head. 13.1 ounces (can you believe the smallest is 13.1?)
“Pyramid” is a very dark fawn with a lovely blaze and a white stripe on the back of the neck. 14.2 ounces.
“Alexander” is a very dark fawn brindle with a nice wide blaze. Quite the beast, weighing 15.9 ounces at birth.
