Juno x Monty Puppies 4 Weeks
Ch Cariad’s The Full Monty, bred to:
GCH Northwind Drops of Jupiter De Sud, FCH
Pedigree (courtesy of the whippet archives)
These temporary names are a salute (or tuque’s off) to Canadian terms, since Monty lives north of the border.

| A tuque is knitted hat for the cold -20/-40 Canadian winters. If you saw someone wearing a new one, you might say “nice tuque, eh?”
Tuque not only has a great hat to think about, perhaps he might grow up some day to drink Windsor Canadian. |

A loonie is a $1 Canadian coin used instead of a paper bill. It has the loon, a northern swimming bird on the front of the coin, hence the name.
Loonie has no idea what money is for. After all, between his mama and me, he gets all the food he needs. |

| Life simply would cease to exist in Canada without Tim Horton’s, the ubiquitous coffee and doughnut shop. Give me a double-double, eh? Double-double is two sugars and two creams.
Double is a fawn brindle with a splash on white on his neck going in both directions – double…. |

Canada is a hotbed for the sport of curling, and oddly enough, so is Duluth. Mark has curled almost as long as we’ve owned whippets and I started about 12 years ago. A skip is the captain of the curling team and calls the shots.
“Skip” is contemplating a curling stone and rink. No clue. |

 |
| Who hasn’t heard of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police? Of course, if you’re a particular age, you were introduced to Mounties via Rocky and Bullwinkel….
“Mountie” is a more typical fawn brindle with a wide collar on his non show side and a symmetrical blaze. |

Another Tim Horton word in Canadian culture is “timbits”, or the true name for doughnut holes.
“Timbits” is an extremely dark, black brindle with a splashy collar and blaze. Quite petite compared to her brothers. |

Poutine is a “death on a plate” kind of favorite Canadian dish. French fries and mozerella cheese curds are smothered with gravy. It originated in Quebec.
“Poutine” is a typical Irish marked puppy, also very, very dark.
