It’s the day after Valentine’s Day. Retro’s owner Sharon Tadlock helped to give the puppies temporary names. She liked a “love” theme with names in several languages and other words that relate to Valentines.
Left to right; Vida, Laska, Cupid, Cara, Valentino, Koi, and Romeo (Or, at least I think so…)
There are two little female Valentines:
“Cara” The name Cara is a girl’s name of Latin origin meaning “dear; friend; face”. Cara is a simple, sweet, Italian endearment that enjoyed its greatest popularity from the 1970s through the 1990s.
“Vida” In Scottish the meaning of the name Vida is beloved or friend. Feminine form of David, adopted from the Hebrew.
And five little male Valentinos:
“Koi” is a Japanese word for love for the opposite sex or a feeling of longing for a specific person. It can be described as “romantic love” or “passionate love.”
“Láska“ is the Slovak word for love, and the endearing term moja láska, or “my love,” is also frequently said. It’s used in many song lyrics, from Slovak pop songs to traditional folk choruses.
“Cupid” is the god of love, son of Venus; usually represented as a winged boy with bow and arrow and identified with the Greek Eros.
“Valentino” The name Valentino is a boy’s name of Spanish origin meaning “strength, health”. A dashing, dramatic and romantic Italian surname, associated with early movie heartthrob Rudolph, and later with Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani
“Romeo” Is an Italian/Latin name means “pilgrimage to Rome.” But thanks to William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, a play about two star-crossed lovers in Verona, it’s often associated with passionate romance.
